Sustainable and Socially Just Economic Development

Nigeria’s economic growth has failed to translate into improved living conditions for most citizens, with poverty and inequality remaining widespread. The nation remains heavily reliant on oil, resulting in “jobless growth” where GDP rises without creating meaningful employment.

Climate change adds another layer of urgency, highlighting the need for a more sustainable and equitable economic model that is inclusive and people-centered, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our Approach

At YouPaD, we work closely with partners on Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan, ensuring young voices and workers’ interests are central to the shift to a cleaner future. We are also committed to a Just Transition for workers in the health and energy sectors, so that no one is left behind as Nigeria moves toward a greener economy.
