About Me

Miss Yahaya is a seasoned Development Practitioner with over 8 years of experience spanning governance, political participation, elections, and peacebuilding across Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Sudan. She has worked with domestic and international organizations, leading critical initiatives and engaging stakeholders on democracy and governance reform. Miss Yahaya has contributed to international election observation missions in Zimbabwe and Nigeria and coordinated efforts in several Nigerian off-cycle elections. Her passion for inclusive democracy is evident in her work training over 1,000 women and youth from political parties in Nigeria and Sudan, equipping them with strategic advocacy tools and enhancing their political relevance. In Sudan, she served as Resident Program Officer, facilitating political dialogues and pushing for youth and women inclusion in the country’s transition process.

Proven Track Record

  • Made history as the first female Students’ Union President of her institution at age 21, and only the second female SUG President in Northern Nigeria in the past 30 years.
  • Has trained over 1,000 women and youth from political parties in Nigeria and Sudan.
  • Served as Resident Program Officer in Sudan, facilitating political dialogues for youth and women inclusion.
