The climate crisis is not gender-neutral; it disproportionately affects women and girls, exacerbating existing inequalities. This critical reality was the focus of our policy dialogue, “The Gendered Climate Crisis: Examining Inter-linkages with Girls’ and Women’s Rights & Security.” Supported by our partners at FES Nigeria, this edition of #AgoraByYouPaD elevated vital gender perspectives that are too often missing from mainstream climate discourse.
The event brought together leading feminist climate justice advocates, youth-gender activists, and social justice leaders to forge a more inclusive and equitable approach to climate action. Panelists discussed how climate-induced resource scarcity can heighten security risks for women and how the burden of adaptation often falls on their shoulders, from sourcing water to ensuring food security for their families.

“We cannot achieve climate justice without gender justice. The solutions to our environmental crisis must be led by and for the women and girls on the frontlines.”
The moments captured here reflect the urgency and depth of a conversation that is critical for Nigeria’s future. By centering the voices and experiences of women, we can develop climate policies that are not only more effective but also more just.
